NDIS Exercise Physiology 2026-27: Price Limits, Line Items and Reporting
The national price limit for exercise physiology in 2026-27 is $161.99 an hour, down from $166.99. The figures below are from the NDIA's own pricing schedule. Always check the current schedule before you bill, because these change on 1 July.

2026-27 price limits and line items
Exercise physiology is spread across four base line items, each carrying suffixes for the different ways a service is delivered.
- The national price limit is $161.99 an hour for 2026-27, down from $166.99.
- Each base item carries suffixes for non-face-to-face, NDIA requested reports, provider travel, cancellation and telehealth.
- Provider travel carries its own rate of $81.00.
| Item | What it is |
|---|---|
| 12_027_0126_3_3 | Exercise physiology, one of the four base items |
| 12_027_0128_3_3 | Exercise physiology, one of the four base items |
| 15_200_0126_1_3 | Exercise physiology, one of the four base items |
| 15_200_0128_1_3 | Exercise physiology, one of the four base items |
| 15_609_0118_1_3 | Early childhood exercise physiology |
| 12_029_0126_3_3 | Personal training, at $69.39, which is not exercise physiology |
Claiming rules
- Report writing is claimed through the non-face-to-face and NDIA requested report suffixes, not as a separate item.
- Travel is claimable at half the price limit, capped at 30 minutes each way in MMM1 to MMM3 and 60 minutes each way in MMM4 to MMM5.
- The difference between the non-face-to-face and NDIA requested report suffixes for report writing is only secondary sourced in epnote's research, so confirm it against the NDIA's own claiming guidance.
What changed from 2025-26
- The hourly price limit fell from $166.99 to $161.99.
What this means for your reports
Two things follow from the pricing rules and they both land in the report rather than the invoice.
First, ask in hours. ESSA's guidance is that a request should give the number of hours rather than the cost, and the NDIA's own guidance is about supports rather than prices. epnote's NDIS templates never print a dollar figure for this reason.
Second, report writing is billable time that comes out of the participant's plan, so a report that gets questioned costs the participant twice. The checklist on this site is the list of elements the NDIA asks for.
Questions
- What is the NDIS hourly rate for exercise physiology in 2026-27?
- The national price limit is $161.99 an hour, down from $166.99 in 2025-26. Check the NDIA's current pricing schedule before billing.
- Which NDIS line item does exercise physiology use?
- Four base items: 12_027_0126_3_3, 12_027_0128_3_3, 15_200_0126_1_3 and 15_200_0128_1_3, each with suffixes for how the service was delivered. Early childhood exercise physiology is 15_609_0118_1_3.
- Can I charge the NDIS for report writing and travel?
- Report writing is claimed through the non-face-to-face and NDIA requested report suffixes on the exercise physiology items. Travel is claimable at half the price limit, capped at 30 minutes each way in MMM1 to MMM3 and 60 minutes in MMM4 to MMM5, with provider travel carrying its own rate of $81.00.
- Is personal training the same line item as exercise physiology?
- No. Personal training is 12_029_0126_3_3 at $69.39, and the NDIA's therapy supports guideline says a personal trainer cannot be funded as a therapy support.
- Can participants self-manage exercise physiology funding?
- How a plan is managed is set in the plan, not by the profession. What does not change is what the report has to show.

What this page does not cover yet
- The brief asks what the NDIS reforms mean for exercise physiology evidence. The repo's research records that the current section 34 wording could not be extracted and that the enacted support lists were not read, so this page makes no claim about the reforms.
- This page needs rewriting every 1 July, when the NDIA publishes the new schedule.
